Buying a boat interstate maybe. Any ideas on the shipping?
Im thinking of buying a boat interstate. Has anyone ever got a boat up on a truck from QLD? The boat's close to Brisbane. What sort of costs did youu pay? Is it viable to fly down, hire a car and tow it up?
Thanks for any help in advance.

I had a mate get one up from brisbane, $3500. Maybe a little more I think. He flew down and hired a cruiser.

I was going to buy my Stacer interstate because of the price difference, but once local dealers realised I was about to sign a contract they were able to sort out a better price. If you ship it or drive it yourself wither way its going to cost a at least $1000 and a few days of your time...
Cheers

So what was your 'better price'? Yes its 3400km so will take a few days to drive.
Ive had variations of $1500-$3500 so far.

Toll will transport boats had a quote for $3500 , DO NOT USE Southern Cross Boat Transport , I went through 3 months of hell with them.
I seen George said his mate flew down and hired a cruiser , NO hire company will hire one way in the NT I was told by every major hire company including Sergeants & 4wd hire Co. that they do not hire because of insurance and the speed limit difference. Only Europcar said they would hire but was going to cost $3800 one way!
There are alot of company's doing regular trips to the NT but do your homework so you dont get stitched like I did.
Sometimes its better to pay a bit more for better transport service!
Are you buying private or from a dealer?

Depends, one is a dealer. They might be able to assist in shipping. One mob in Melbourne weren't interested in helping ship. Pretty much hung up on me. I did screw their boat price down a lot though.

If you can budget the boat transport price into the deal your sweet.
Which State you looking at transporting from?

Find out who the local boat businesses use and get a quote from them. they would have a deal going but I'll bet they can do a deal.
I just types in to google and got heaps of replies

Ive found boats in Bris, Syd, Melb and ADL so not sure where yet. Depends on whether they come to the party on my budget. My cousin is willing to collect from either of these (not Brisbane though) and meet me half way in Alice if it comes down to it.

I gave the number for rinkie transport in Forrest hill (Bris) in a previous post. I got a 8meter brought up a year or so ago and they were excellent think it was about 4 or 5 grand but we do a bit of buisness with them. As said, they were great and that had to be on a drop deck due to the height which you probably wouldnt need, maybe, depends on boat I guess.

Max.
I used Aquatic Boat Transporters out of Bne to get my Stacer Nomad 440 on a Sealink trailer up here about a year back.
Cost me $1700 cash. They bring the Barramundi Marine boats up apparently...at least that's what they told me!
Their transporters are good, no damage to my boat in transit. Their service when the expected arrival time in Darwin came and went was less than average.
The boat got here a week late (no big-e) but the problem was that they weren't answering the phone.....alarm bells were ringing from me as you can imagine!!! I got onto them eventually and everything turned out peachy.....and the price was right so I can't grumble.

Also maybe just ask a few dealers who they use.

Re: Buying a boat interstate maybe. Any ideas on the shipp
ordered my new boat and it's in Ingham QLD
was quoted $4000 to send it over on the truck but decided I will travel over and get it myself.
have 2 weeks leave booked and was headed to Coral Bay anyways which is pretty much the same distance so i'm happy to go get and put the savings into setting up the electirc motor.
got a very good price on the boat so happy all round.
