I might be looking at an upgrade sometime this year and was wondering if anyone had experience with either of the late model 250's from Yamaha or Suzuki? What boat it's pushing? Fuel economy? The boat I intend pushing with it will weigh approx 1.5t

Thanks in advance

Lats i have 2 mates with the 651 ocean masters , one with yammy 250 and the other 250 suzi . The suzi gets 1.2 km to the litre at 45 km and the yammy 1.5 litre at 45km . I have been in both and the yammy is quietet and seems to pop out of the water better . The suzi tell tAil blocks up easy in shallow water and i know alot of the guides moved away from them because they were blowing heads

There is also a 5.5 ocean master runoff
On gumtree with a 225 etec
From memory that is very low hours
And very little use might be worth
A look see

Hi Lats,

We have a Suzuki 250 (2017) not a lean burn on a big boat 2.3T loaded.
We did a big run (over 460km) last month and the figures were this:
4000rpm doing between 48-52km/hr using 1l for 1.5-1.6km, Suzuki digital taco with GPS was very accurate.

I was over the moon with those results.
We have usable fuel of 100l front tank and 220l rear tank and took 40l for spare.
When I refilled the rear (as we used all the other fuel) 170l to refill.
So actual was 140l + 170l = 310l average of 1.5km/l

Glad the Mrs made me take 40l just in case other wise it would be just 10l to rely on.

Flat out ~75km/hr is .9km/l, man it goes fast as does the fuel.

Cheers,
Niall

Lats, i run a yamaha 250 on my 6m MODA its definetly not the lightest pplate boat out there but the yamaha rips it out of the water with ease and tops out at 80Kmh I running a 16 pitch prop did try a 17 for a while but juswt wouldnt rev out and fuel economy was generally not as good. With fuel mate i factor 1L to 1KM this is where the suzuki may be better then yamaha i think they can swing larger props with the gearbox setup and gain better fuel economy.

Hi Lats
I have a 7.2m Arafura Plate boat with a 2010 Yamaha 250, 17 pitch prop and WOT is 1km/0.8L, at around 40kms it can get around 1.4km per litre.
