Not a big fan of Bogas ect hanging off stuff Fruity so hence the shelf in the top of the console.

No harm done Warren, things like that happen sometimes.
Nice to catch up again anyway!

Thanks for the offer Matt but I have to draw the line somewhere.

One of those 24 inch Simrads would look good on that console

Awesome to watch the progress.

I’ve been watching these blokes build wood/fibreglass boat on facey (bowdidge designs) it’s pretty cool to see the build from timber frames to on the waters boats all made by average joes in their garages.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi All,
Finally got back at it yesterday and today, had intended to get into it earlier but work got in the way.

Finally made a start on the deck and it's coming along nicely, the following photos probably don't look like much but there is a huge amount of work that has went in in the last couple of days.

The longitudinal stringers to provide adequate support for eskies and dry storage gear went in first yesterday and then the bulkheads went in today.

Storage configuration is one large and two small hatches in the first compartment for an esky and two tackle storage bins, the idea being that the bins under the small hatches will be removable with spare bins to quickly switch between Barra/inshore and offshore trips without having to unpack/pack a tackle tray at a time. The second compartment will be one large hatch primarily for overnighter dry storage of swags, clothes ect. but no doubt will be the place other blokes gigantic Plano boxes get stowed to get them off the deck on day trips. The third and final compartment will be anchor storage with hopefully if I can design it right, a small pop up hatch/housing assembly on a gas strut cantilever to one side with a 9 inch Lowrance touch installed in the housing, the idea being that it can be down and out of the way when not in use and not getting wet when on the move and pops up when you need it.

Cheers, :drinking1:

John.

Fitzy,
I'm painting the inner combings, gunnel edges, console and transom for ease of cleaning and then wrapping it in a cheap plain wrap.

I'm running carpet for ease of use and fast install although the casting deck will be padded with 10mm EVA under the carpet. I padded my last one and it's in the must have catergory now as far as I'm concerned. 8) I considered Seadeck however it is very expensive, you still have to paint beforehand so you effectively do two jobs rather than one and its' life expectancy is around that of carpet or less as it is prone to tearing. But yes it does look the goods no doubt about that.

Cheers, :drinking1:

John.

Have you looked at the Comcork Aquadeck product ? My mate has it in his Ocean Master and it is bl..dy hard wearing . It is an Australian made product and 70% cork so its pretty comfortable under foot

Hi All,

Slow going with this weather at the moment but the deck plates for the casting deck and the hatch gutters are now fitted and ready to be welded in. Not my favourite job. :banghead: Measure, cut, test, adjust, repeat......

Cheers,

John.
