oooops,, hope you offered a helping hand if needed .

I was with a mate many years ago who did the same
thing .... was a bit of shame the abuse he got from
other skippers trying to launch.
At least this guy had the motor up ,, not a good day

I would have mate but there were 3 blokes there & I think they were well and truly in discussions on what they were going to do. Sad state of affairs on that lane let me tell you.

That sux.

Confession time. I was launching there a while ago, not long after I got my new trailer. The boat still hadn't been sliding off the trailer without having to back right in. I was fishing solo and got lazy and undid the chain and ratchet at the top of the ramp. She'll be right! Stupid I know.

Anyway, I made sure to reverse nice and steady, without hitting the brakes and when I got the trailer in the drink I eased on the brakes ever so slightly. Well the boat just kept going sliding into the water along side the pontoon. Must have been because my fat gut wasn't adding extra weight on the skids. Whoops, had to quickly jump out of the car run down the pontoon and grab the boat! If anyone had of seen it they would have thought I meant it, that's how smooth it went! Haha! Get out of jail free card that one!

Watched a bloke do this a Corroboree a few years back and he was so embarrassed. Felt bad for him but we rallied all the troops we could find, about 20 of us and managed to dry winch it back on in no time.

Once you've done it, you'll never do it again.

Coming back into a ramp in Brisbane once, watched these two guys with a brand new fiberglass cabin boat do the same thing. Undid the safety chain and strap in the tie down area. Then went to reverse down the ramp also going at to fast, launched the boat off the trailer at the top of the ramp then pushed it I another 6 foot down the ramp with the trailer. Went in to offer help and got abused for offering. Didn't worry about being abused as I think it was more frustrated about what had just happened.(I'd be p...ed to). His mate was telling us this was his first boat on its maiden voyage.

At lunchtime the other day at east arm ramp I caught a bit of commotion from the corner of my eye, not sure want happened but a 'solid' bloke ended up on his back with his legs in the air in a small tinny as the skipper was reversing away. Took a few mins before he moved to get upright again. I thought he was really hurt or dead. Another bloke at the ramp thought he may have supermaned into the departing boat or he just went arse up big time for no apparent reason. Should put an extra security camera on the ramp and make a reality tv show. Funny stuff.... when it's not you.
