Out of curiosity I got a quote to take my 5.6m from Darwin to Brissy by aquatic and they wanted 2400. Thought it was supposed to be cheaper heading south?

Sorry to re-activate an old thread, I'm based in Darwin and have just bought a Stacer 429 Outlaw (on trailer) in Townsville (got a better deal than I could find on any boat in Darwin, even factoring in transport) and need to get it trucked up. Got 2 x quotes so far, one from Aquatic Boat Transport for $2750 and one from Twenty Forty Transport for $2135. Does anyone know any other companies that do this run that are reliable but may be cheaper? Or have any feedback on either of these companies?
Some friends have recommended listing it on backloading websites and Facebook to see if any randoms out there are doing the drive and want to bring it up. I'm a but suss on this but again, any recommendations welcomed.
Cheers and hopefully see you out on the water soon!

Quote from NT Hauliers to top load it was $1250 +GST, can't give a definite date as they need to wait for a load with spare space but spoke to the bloke and said it shouldn't take long. I'm in no rush so that's nearly an extra $1000 I can spend on the boat/gear when it arrives. Thanks for the tips. In case anyone else was wondering, NT Hauliers also quoted $2125 + GST for booked space on next available load. (NB the Twenty Forty quote was $2135 including GST).

Try Distribution Direct in Townsville. They shipped my new boat to Darwin recently, no worries.
