Trout in South Australia

Post by Matt Flynn »

Given recent summer heat extremes in SA, I wonder how the trout are coping?

Not exactly a red hot trout state, but as I used to fish there many years ago for trout I am curious about the current status.

SA's trout streams are mostly very small and won't support much in the way of large native fish. "Feral import" redfin are fairly dominant too in the same streams.

There have been plenty of native fish dying in the Murray/Darling in recent years, not just the feral imports. Tough times for freshwater fish.
