Why not stock it with a native cod species? I mean fair enough if the barra do migrate down that far on their own accord. I don't know the area but there's potential that introducing them could cause havoc on the natives if they can adapt.

Don't know if I'd worry, other than to protect an endangered species. So much havoc has already caused, it seems a moot point. But the barra won't survive outside the warm water, unless the El Ninos keep coming.

And dare I say, on the end of a line, barra leave cod for dead ...

The idea of ripping 'feral' trout out of southern creeks to allow native galaxia and the like to thrive seems a backward step to me. As much as I'd like to see loads of galaxia, I'd rather see trout. Nowadays, lucky if you see either ...

It is an artificially warmed lake due to a nearby power station so I would question how the natives would go in there. There are already excellent stocking programs of natives in numerous waters here. They must be doing a good job if there are enough fish out there for me to catch a Murray cod

Any updates as to water temps and fish activity?

fishing there is pretty slow but people are still catching. There is an area that is closed off to rec fisho's that I'm pretty sure is nearer to where the warm water comes in that has fished extreamly well, pity you can't fish it unless you have your own fishing program on TV. You hear more reports of land based fishos catching than boats but i think they can get closer to the no fish zone. All fish I've seen seem very healthy and decent size now, doubt they would be any good on there chew but haven't sampled any myself.

Aby 80cm is the biggest they are atm.

the power station shutting down will be a oroblem though....

all the fish sit in the hot water outlet....thats were the fishing show bloke was allowed to fish but nobody ekse is.if you fish there the police fine you 300 bucks

ive fished it 4 times for 0 barra,8 barra,1 barra and 4 barra....so its hit and miss

The barra are very heavy....they have a stack off tucker to choose from in there atm
