A sad day for NT fishing.

Pete Davies was the scruffy scribe of the Mad Mullet column in the Darwin and Palmerston Sun news magazine. He was the instigator of the "I Float and I Vote" campaign a couple of years ago. He was an ambassador for "Black Dog" and Beyond Blue. He was a keen angler and regular attendant at the Darwin Flyrodders competitions.

He was a mate of mine and will be sadly missed.

Rest In Peace Pete Davies.

I did a bit of work on his house. With 1/2 made lures everywhere I got talking to him on fishing, and lure making. Luckily it was my last job of the day as I ended up chatting to him for a good hour or so. He ended up giving me about 3 home made lures, 2 modified and coloured soft plastics and a afew reedies little lusfers. I told him he can't give me these, but he wouldn't have it and insisted I take them. I will have to dig them out and put up a photos. Whilst a little primitive in looks, he insisted that they worked great, and those shinny ones that people make we're only to catch the fisherman not the fish.
I wasnt doing the work for him, so he wasn't doing this to try and get a cheaper price, he was just genuinely a good fella, who got much joy out of fishing and making his own lures and was very happy to share any info he could.

In my opinion he along with rob smith are the only good radio host up here. Manny can do radio up here, but very few are good at it.

The territory is poorer for his loss.
My thoughts go to Vickey and his family.
