Shady This Weekend! Finally

Hi All,

Off to shady on sunday morning early this week, finally hired a boat and going out hunting for some big girls for the Mrs to catch her first barra!
Has anyone heard any reports or have any tips to help out?
Ive caught plenty a barra but only fished shady once with a mate a long time ago so its all a blur
I know to troll the mouth, is that an all day event or just a particular part of the tide? Do you follow the tide up like the daly and up the guts?
Anything worth a flick on the way down
Ive searched alot of the old posts but they are not super clear.
Thanks in advance!

You follow the professionals at a distance. It is not like the daly. the fish are at the mouth. You know the guides will be using the lures most likely to catch a barra and they tend not to fish an area that doesn't have fish. If you use plastics you should be able to catch barra but not of great quality. It's a full day exercise.

I heard there are plenty of rats around the black water coming out the 2nd barrage and the creeks around there. I’d be slipping in the Congo line trolling the mouth (and in a bit) 09:30-13:30 and flicking around the banks any other time. Keep an eye out on your sounder for fish sitting on the bottom of holes about 1/2 a k in from the mouth on the eastern side. Tight lines.

be aware if you have a bigger boat you probably wont launch at the low tide. last weekend was very shallow in my 5m boat so would say this weekend will be lower

Fish the tide change hard. If you find fish on the sounder it can pay to keep hammering them until they come on the bite. Fish that are off the bottom are often feeding.

If you are fishing up top around the barrages try big rubbers as one mob could not get fish on small rubbers, might be something to do with lack of small bait around.
