These tags have no monetary value. They do however provide interesting information.

The red tag is a MDF from season one that I caught out of the competition season, the fish was at liberty for 574 days from tagging and had grown 120mm, it was recaptured at the location where it was tagged.

The yellow tags are both from Charles Darwin Uni.

They were both tagged on the same day at the same location. I caught them both at the same location they were tagged at. The first was at liberty 1111days and had grown 260mm, the second was at liberty 1236 days and had grown 320mm.

The blue tag is from the Crownbet experiment to judge the potential capture rate prior and gambling odds prior to getting involved in the MDF competition. I caught this fish two years after season one had commenced.

I contacted Crownbet with the information on the fish, size, tag number (6) date and location, they have never responded.

Great info WW. Surprised they have stayed in the same spot for three years, I assume this is tidal water?

Yes Matt they were all captured in the Daly and were free to roam. They were all tagged during the dry and recaptured during the runoff.
I was also surprised to find out that the fish were at liberty for so long and were recaptured in exactly the same place of the tagging, perhaps they are creatures of habit, lets hope so.

A lot (if not all) of the recaptured MDF tags have been caught in very close proximity of where they were tagged. For example there were two taken out of Corroboree from different seasons of the comp from the same spot by the same blokes.

From a research angle a high percentage return rate of tags is an indicator of a low biomass.

I hear that Pecheur's fish was tagged two years earlier in the same creek he caught it in. It would be interesting to find out if fisheries have records of how many tags are being recaptured in the same place.

Do you want a list of tag numbers and sizes of 753 barra tagged and released in the Roper below Ngukurr in April 2012?

Both AFANT and Fisheries have this list (given to them in May 2012). The tags were supplied by Fisheries NT for us to use.

Don't know if anything's been released about recaptures.

Interesting fish is the barra, some tagged fish caught hundreds of miles away and some are recaught on the same snag. The individuals do their own thing.

Below is a list of Tagged Fish, with Dates, Locations and Sizes
CCF_000022.pdf
The Fish that was recaught twice, both times was by us

There was another Tagged Fish caught, that we caught twice in a Couple of Weeks, but I think AFANT, did not accept it the second time, for some reason. (we did not recieve the free Lure, and Certificate, for the second Catch).

You guys would probably know Matt Peace from Gove.

He's been doing things with tags for a little while. I think I've sent him our Roper River tag data.

Anyway, he's been talking to Bill Sawynok of InfoFish Aust about tagging in NT.

Be worthwhile catching up with him to see how he's going about it.

There's a fair bit of data around to do with tagging in NT but it looks like there's not a lot of feedback from AFANT or NT Fisheries about it.

Why not those interested in it do their own thing from the bottom up seeing that doing it from the top down hasn't worked.

If you guys want to do your own tagging thing why not ream up with Matt Peace or Bill Sawnok?
