Hi guys
Since i bought my boat i always end up with a bit of water inside the boat but not enough to worry about.
So today i star to look at the old patch and get rid of the old epoxy patches, they are looking a bit too old.
So i wanted to make some good new patch, to make them clean.
I sand them all and that what i end up with.
I was wondering if the epoxy will be enough or should i ask a professional welder to do it properly?
Just to tell how big are the holes in 1 i can fit a 8G screw and the others are all smaller if that can help to judge.

Hi Pellet,

Being an ex ally welder looking at the hole size I would recommend getting them filled with weld cobba, just think of the peace of mind as well knowing that the hull is up to scratch especially in lizard infested waterways.

hey mate, any fab shop in town will do it easily,try dinghy doctor ,micks ally fab etc,there are heaps!!

If Jerro cant help i've used Adam from Humpty doo welding for a similar job and would highly recommend him. Hes mobile too so he can come to you.

Hey Pellet,

I would normally jump at it mate but I have a bl..dy pacemaker in the chest these days so apparently no more welding for me these days or i risk interference on the old pacemaker (not to be confused with the boat). Just make sure that you give the area to be welded a good clean from left over silicon/epoxy etc, it will drive a welder crazy having to deal with any contaminants in the weld zone.

If you can't get it welded use Selleys AQUA KNEEDIT . My first boat had a few holes the same size and i plugged them up with this product
intending to get them welded at a later date , which I never did . I ran around for two years before one of the plugs let go and leaked again .
Ment a a quick fix but lasted for ages .
