Hey guys just been contacted by the unlucky bugger who has sunk near Bateman's. I've offered to help out where I can and will be taking my boat out next weekend in the hope of refloating and getting it to the perons. so I'm kinda hoping a few forum members might be keen to bring their rigs out and help out.
I'm trying to get some gusher pumps sorted and have a few 44s to use as well. Just need some more willing hands and some more horsepower to get her back upright and tow to perons and wait for low tide.
Anyone interested please contact me asap
Cheers
Scott

Not having a dig, i reckon good on ya for having a crack, but if its worth recovering then shouldn't the recovery be sorted/funded by insurance or the boat would be written off I would have thought.

Good effort Scott, unfortunately I wont be available for the next few weekends otherwise I'd be in. Spent half of last night myself in the pitch black looking for a boat that had reportedly let off two flares in Bynoe, it threw my plans of hassling goldies at Bass reef big time.

Where are you launching from? Dundee or Channel point? Surely Parks would give you a key given the reasoning behind the request.

maybe there is no insurance?

Either way, its a shipping hazard, it'd be good to get it out of the way. It is currently unlit.

Hey guys can't comment on the insurance side of things cause honestly don't even know if he had any. I just feel for the guy really and he's asked for some help so I'm there. Cheers to everyone who has offered to help and not able to make this weekend.

I don't even know the guy really just offered to help as I like to think what goes around comes around. Good effort jabsy trying to find that boat. Its blokes like you that hopefully will help me one day if the poop hits the fan

Your a month late for me to help I have had my last swing down that way and am already in Brisbane. Seems it's a bit of a strange request for assistance to recover weeks later from somebody you don't really know.
On the water at the time of the incident sure it's a certifiable drop everything heaven and earth matter but weeks later you are definitely the Good Samaritan and deserve the good karma wel done.

Thanks Scott, I'd always go to help on the water for the exact reason you outlined above. We searched for a few hours, and then beached at a couple of spots on the eastern side at the request of water police to help with the investigation. Anyway it doesn't seem that anything was found, so hopefully it was just people goofing off. A bit hard searching in the pitch dark using only the boat spotties, a dolphin torch and Navionics charts.

Karma ended up paying off for us too, we ended up stopping by Sims Reef as we weren't going to have time to get out to Bass, and bagged out on jewies in about half an hour. The other boat we set off with only ended up with two goldies and two trickies. I'll make up a post later on, it was an adventurous night.

Cheers tangels I reckon I might take you up on that offer and I will be bringing a rod or two for (hopefully) after the job is done and heading to the jew ledge to see what's around so it won't be all work and no play.

Thanks again Dennis just need to catch up with owner now to discuss the plan.
If its not there I'll look for a while but if I see a pack of tuna.... :fishing:
Hopefully its easier then everyone thinks. I have a guy onboard that has done salvaging before on gold coast and just picked up the gusher pump off the boss today. Another mate is meant to get 250m of salvage rope and I'm picking up 20 odd large bouys tommorow so seems like we are well prepared. I'll be carrying tools and some spares but might see how much storage area you have too as I'm running out lol.
Cheers
Scott
