That only says "no vehicles".

Has there been more trouble out there recently?

Turns out ol Mate has the right to hunt punters of the end of the sand spit (given of course that he is the 'private land' owner)
The spit isn't private land, it part of the conservation reserve south of the community land. Old mate doesn't have the right to kick anyone off the conservation land for anything at all, ever.

The only people who can enforce anything on the conservation land are NT Parks rangers, Police and Fisheries officers.

I guess the map in the newspaper clipping is confusing (well to me anyways :P ).

Appears to me that the coast line follows the yellow/light colored area of "private land", and that the green horizontally striped 'Conservation area' is water??

Good work on Big Col's behalf doing the overlay thing :applause:

Interestingly this old map, pretty sure its from the early 70's, shows no sand spit protruding down towards the rock, and the lot boundary following the old coastline.

So the spit is a relatively new piece of land that has established on an NTG owned parcel. I suppose it only takes one real good cyclone from the right direction and on the right tide to remove the spit altogether?

wow just read this full conversation ,it looks like it just keeps going round and round with the laws for everyone. very dissapointing with the locals and the way they treat people who venture onto the beach area .as in most places a few bad eggs make it hard for everyone .
