Giant herring?

Giant herring are a fairly common fish in Top End waters, a great sportfish, but never targeted. I assume this is because their habits - including likely locations - are not well understood.
Perhaps there just aren't enough of them around to interest people.
Or is it possible to target this species reliably?

Have found and caught a few over the years, all over the place from Melville to the Perons
never targeted them though, they usually eat metal slugs thrown across bait schools as well and due to the aerobatics and headshakes it is hard to get them to the boat before they throw the lure.
Found them feeding with trevally and queenies.
go like the clappers though
Never targeted them specifically, but have encountered a few more of them over the last couple of years

I target them a bit on bream gear, they usually hang around in a certain spot I pass when heading out in the boat fishing.
Have found you can get them to follow small poppers or metal slices retrieved across the surface and using a switch bait method get them on small flys.
There were no tuna around yesterday arvo so we actually targeted these, got smoked by one big one and had many smash baitfish around the boat!!

I regularly catch them out bynoe way. I was out last weekend travelling along about 45km/hr when a wolf herring jump out slapped me in the face and landed in the boat. Funny as but shook me a bit when it happened haha.
