Clicking noise

Talk about the gear you can't afford and knots you can't tie.

Clicking noise

Post by Young_gun_fisho »

Hi FFFers. Have noticed recently that when I reel my shimano saragosa, there is a relatively quiet clicking noise every revolution or so. It only occurs however, when the spool is on. I have tried seeing what it sounds like without the handle (as I thought the handle was clicking) and without the spool, however it only occurs with the spool on. It doesn't affect performance, it just annoys me. Anyone know what it might be?

is your line out after casting and you winding it back in ,at the time of clicking if it is it could be the roller bearing ,put a bit of oil in it just to see if this silences it if so you might need a new bearing .but saying that it is a shimano and weird noises always come out of those spinning reels .:):)

used to be a big shimano user but as years have gone their quality has dropped of big time ,you pay big dollars to have small problems consistently popping up on both spin and baitcaster .there is heaps of better quality reels on the market now to choose from .on your reel is your spool running even on the base ,it might be the spool arm just rubbing past the main body .turn your reel and hold it on the side to see if is running even under the bottom lining it up against the line on the body .if not that maybe the wire drag clicker inside the spool it might be loose of the small screw

Update, can slightly hear it with the spool off too. Almost too quiet to hear, even with my ear pressed up against the reel

Yeah, I was contemplating a service for a bit. Looks like I will have to do it.

Most reels will make that noise after being smoked a few times on full lock too.

X 2 for deep black, has kept a few of my harder abused reels going longer than they should have
