Managed to get a few rooms for the family at Cooinda Saturday night

Fished during a lovely sunset for 1 passable fish at the main junction trolling. But threw him back anyway.
Sunday Morning counted 81 Barra mostly tailing (tail high in water , head down at 45 degree angle), not interested in anything we threw at them, from rubbers, hard bodied, zerek prawns. (all at once as we had 4 in the boat)
Water temp on the two days 34 arvo - 32C (in morning)

Majority of 81 fish were in 30-60 range with a few fat 80's.
If I had a spear & a good eye, could of filled the boat
Most appeared to be heading upstream
(Last year we saw them heading downstream)

Didnt see any traces of tags, which is good as that would of been even more depressing. (Yeah, I Couldnt get the cheap rooms for starters)

I think the place needs some cooling rain for the fish to become normal again
& Platoon style BTEC squad to sweep over the plains & knock the buffalo as the country is chopped, plodded and clapped out to buggery
Harry Butler was right after all.

Fish are probably low on oxygen due to recent rain and heat. Very rarely will they bite when in billabongs in that mode. On the odd occasion how ever i have had them go nuts on the surface just before fish kills.

Got a few on Sat night, nothing of size, biggest went 54 .........didn't kick off until about 8 pm and it was a fish-a-troll up until about 9.30, shut down when the moon got high. There's a few bigger models in there, missus lost a high 80's boat side and got busted off by a much bigger one.........me, well I spent the night attending to the steering wheel and net.......
