This is from a couple of months ago on the back end of the wet. Stream flows were starting to drop, fish were packing up for the dry but you could interest the odd one or three. A bit of underwater footage at the end to get an idea of what's down there but not interested in biting.

AAA!
That's some special country you have there, real 'sweetwater' as they say.
Like trout fishing, but better

That is nice! Pristine country and pristine waters.
Reminds me of fishing Spillway Creek in the '70s for the big sooties.

Re: Kimberley Sooties
Spillway is only a shadow of what it was bobj. Since it overflowed about 2000 all the accumulated silt and veg got washed away. You can still get fish in there but not the same quality that there once was with that habitat gone.

Re: Kimberley Sooties
Different fish, Hephaestus fuliginosus is the NT fish and Hephaestus jenkinsi is the WA fish. A good jenkinsi is 45cm but anything over 40 is a fine fish. On rare occasions I've heard reliable reports of them getting over 50 but getting one is like winning the lottery. Generally the 'Western' sooty grunter is a bit smaller than its cousin.Flickin4em wrote:Many decent ones in there or are they all tiddlers ???
