Daly 08 - 10 th April

Post by jpb15 »

Hi all,
We put the Boat in at Woolianna, and headed down Stream, about 8.00 am Saturday.
Went past the first couple of Creecks, with Boats on them.
Arrived at Browns, and decided to stop, and have a look.
First sign of problem, the motor would not idle down enough, to put in Neutral.
Turn the Key off, and Restart, I have no Revs.
I can Limp, but no Revs.
Decide to Limp back to the Boat Ranp. :x
Find some shade, about a 1 km, back up, and decide to have a look.
Empty the Fuel Seperater, and sure enough there is water in it.
Clean it out, and we get going again.
Decide to keep heading back to the Boat ramp, only to see Fish Boiling at a Vacant Creek.
We Stopped, only to find, I could not Idle again. I turned the Key off, and we Fished.
Throw out a couple of largish Cherabin, that we caught, over Night, and watch the Fish Boil and Boof, in front of us.
Decided to put a Lure on, and try my luck.
Couple of Casts, and get a hit.
Have another one, and I am On, :D "Get the Net", I say, only to find, No Net. A little fight, and I get the fish along side, and I am looking straight down its Gob, when the Lure comes out. :banghead:
I call it for a 50, but it was probably bigger.
A Couple more Casts, with a Couple of Lure Changes, and I get Hit again.
Small fight, and I have a 57 cm, that we decide is Dinner.
A Couple of casts later, and I have a 63 cm, in the Boat.
About 10 mins later, I have another 61 cm, in the Boat.
All the while fish have been Boiling up, and Boofing around us, but the Cherabin never got touched.
It all goes quiet, and we decide to head off.
Start thye Boat, and I have warning Buzzers, and Lights Flashing, and turn it off again.
Turn it On, and can Limp again.
Limp to some Shade, and empty the Fuel Seperature again, and get going.
We are just below the Boat Ramp, and decide to try and Test the Motor Up Stream. Our Therory is, we can always drift back to the Boat Ramp.
Just above Woolianna, the Motor stops Dead.
It turns out, it was Only an Air Block, and we headed up to the Creek above Ban Yan, without any other Problems.
I ended up Catching the fish of the trip there, at 75 cm.
Next morning, we nervously headed down to Elizabeth, only to Find out we were Bottoming out at Brown's.
Take it Slower, and all is good.
All of the Creeks from the Boat Ramp down, have Boats on them.
We finally find some water flowing, about 5kms, below Elizabeth, and decide to have a Fish.
I catch a 61 cm, which ends up being the only fish Caught.
Headed down to Algator head, where the Water was Dirty, and headed beack for nothing.
But the Boat never missed a beat.
I accept that many might think we took unneccesary risks, but the Motor had only been Serviced 20 hrs beforehand, and it is an "Evinrude Etec."
Today, (Monday), We stopped at one of the Creeks above Browns, and stayed there.
Ended up catching 5 Fish, all between 61 cm, and 64 cm, Keeping 1, and giving 1 away to some Queensland Girls, that were having trouble. Gave them our left over Bait also, to help them out.
I guess you will notice, I only talk about the Fish I caught.
Trip Results
Home Team 11 Keepers
Away Team 3 Powertail, 1 Stabbing him, just adding to my Total
Result - I enjoyed Myself, not sure about the other team

Some drama and some fun
Caught a few good fish too well done!
If there is water and it holds fish, then it is fun trying to fool them into eating what you offer!!

Especially when you can see them!
