Daly River 21 Feb

Just got back from a fun trip down the Daly. We drove down yesterday evening and camped at Lee and Jenny's, which meant we could launch at first light. There's a few logs floating on the river and some new snags to be careful of. With all the flood water we made good time to our runoff creeks downstream. We went all the way to Clear Creek, which was flowing well but full of boats. We got 1 barra there then fished a few creeks back up to the mouth. Powertail creek is chockers with mullet and archer fish, but not a barra in sight. We got 3 more barra at No Fish Creek before leaving at 3. No one at the ramp had caught anything.

Definitely recommend Lee and Jenny's. We stayed in the rooms last year. This time they were full so we put our domes up under the shed. Great amenities, cheap and close to the ramp

Went to clear ck on Sat 20th . All the Intel was that clear creek was the go. Public ramp had trailers out onto the road. Didn't see that many boats on my way there , and only 2 boats when I got there. mmmmmmm thats not right. There were a few boats around Elizabeth, but only saw a small barra caught further towards clear ck. At clear ck I saw one barra surface and that was it. Plenty of arches on the sounder trolling the bank near clear, hooked up and ......bl..dy shark. Water temp was pushing 34 degrees. looked like nobody was catching. On the way home saw a lot of boat heading for the Daly.

we didnt get anything on Sunday as well, only the 3 we managed on Saturday all around Elizabeth.

for how promising the river was looking a few weeks ago it looks like poop now.

on a positive - Lee and Jennys joint is GOLD. good price as well.

I was at Lee and Jenny's as well.
I have been going there since they started.
As has been mentioned before, the prices are good, there are options for Camping, Powered/Non Powered, Cabins, a 2 Bedroom self contained house, (that they would like to Rent out Permenatly), Caravan sites etc.
They are easy to get on with.
They are still getting the place set up, and so it is not 100% completed. They have a Pool, that is not yet in the ground, but should be in the ground, before the Tourists arrive.
They are basically setting the place up, as the funds allow. If more people go there, it will get set up quicker.
We only caught 2 legal Barra, a 70 cm, 30 seconds after the first Cast, on Friday. and then nothing but Powertail, and the odd Shark, until about 10.30 am this morning (Monday). When we (the same person, not me), landed a 58 cm.
Beware, we did get to the Boat this morning, to find 3 Rods, 3 or 4 Lure Boxes, Knives, Hooks Sinkers and other stuff missing from the Boat. :fubird: :fubird:
Our Boat was the one tied up out the front.

So going on all reports, perhaps all the arches were sharks & felinefish .... ???

Sharks don't have swim bladders so to my knowledge, won't show up on the sounder.
