Fitzmaurice River

I am looking at heading into the Fitzmaurice River mid 2016, via the Vic River in a couple of 5m tinnies. Has anyone fished the Fitzmaurice? Any advice?

Isn't the river full of impassable rockbars, down toward the lower reaches? I could be wrong but I thought you had to drive in and launch in the green water to get access to most of the river. I'd be interested to know how you go, I've heard the Barra fishing is amazing. Good luck

I've driven in twice. The fishing is amazing. If you drive be prepared to destroy your car. If you boat in, be careful of the tides. There are a couple of spots with standing waves and impassable rockbars. You could end up stuck up there for a week.
