Some days you just strike gold

Having not fished in a while both Julie and I were keen to get a good trip under the belt. And Julie being at 26 weeks pregnant and me going back to work next week, it was probably our last chance to do an over nighter. We took off at stupid o'clock and got on the water without any problems. A few months ago I got myself some hand painted Reidys Big Ass B52 200's and I was very keen to give them a swim.
Pretty much right on the money the fish started to feed on the turn, but it only lasted for about an hour. First fish was this 94cm fork length thready Then Julie followed with a 86cm fork length thready We then lost quite a few fish, which was a bit of a good problem because they all looked well over 90cm and having already eskied our one fish over 90cm I didn't have the problem of trying to get a photo and release them.
Then Julie says "I'm on" "Big thready" as it jumped well clear of the water. On its second jump clear of the water which I saw I said "Barra, and a good one " It was Julie's first legal barra at 99.5cm. I moved it around a bit on the brag mat but couldn't find 5mm Swam off strongly in no time
That bite ended so we then chased a jew. Got my first jew on my barra gear in 4m of water. It went mental. Came in at 121cm We ended up coming home and not doing the overnight as the salmon and jew filled the esky and I was worried about ice. Great day
