Re: Goulbern River Fish Kill
yeah seems the river is the same all the way down.
one thing i have noticed this year is that the river was full of healthy yabbies and huge shrimp
the last couple of years i havnt caught many yabbies in the river
i forgot to mention that i did save three huge cod from the river and put them in a dam i have that is very big.
when the river gets healthy again i will naturally place them back in the river.
cheers

My favourite part of that thread craig was the guy who thought carp had hatched through the mud like a phoenix rising from the ashes after being buried for decades...craig308 wrote:some good info on fish net in the freshwater page under Blackwater - Worst fears realised . about the effects of the black water flood on the murray river
I had to send that one around the email...

Re: Goulbern River Fish Kill
were going to have to restock the the goulburn river and most of the murray river.
there is no fish in the river at all..can go out fishing with grubs, yabbies, worms and not even lose a bait.
you hear stories of some cod being caught hear and there but im actually yet to see a picture of these fish.!!! from actually going out and fishing i can clearly tell you that the river has been destroyed.
we have lost all the breeding cod and yellowbelly.
the vic goverment and fisheries need to act quickly and stop denying that there is no problem.

I agreed it was shocking and sad to see so many large cod floating past Stewarts Bridgebarra mick wrote:were going to have to restock the the goulburn river and most of the murray river.

Re: Goulbern River Fish Kill
Thats shocking news, the river will take a long time to repopulate. I heard that mulwalla was fishing well atm. They dried it out to get rid of the weed that chokes it every few years.

Re: Goulbern River Fish Kill
Do you think this fish kill has killed the vast numbers of carp? If it has affected their numbers like the natives surly it would be a good time to restock the natives and give them a head start on the redfin and carp. I haven't lived or fished the basin for over ten years now so not really sure what the situation is.
Cheers
