Car engine compession at ramp

Post by Fishful »

Hello all. I have a 4.2 deisel turbo land cruiser 92 model. The problem I have is when I am at the ramp and reverse the boat in, then put it first gear and the hand brake on, it continues to do compression let off backwards. Ie it goes chu chunk backwards for one compression, then five seconds late it goes chu chunk backwards again, and continues to do this. I thought a engine (4.2 Turbo deisel) should not allow it to go backwards (maybe if in reverse) but not when its is in first gear ???? Any ideas ? :o

I reckon Jeff on the money , i have areal step driveway and my 2006 lux use to slip backwards down the driveway. I spoke to the mechanic before we did the service and he adjust the hand brake. It doesn't slip anymore.

Being a old model might be worth while checking compression as well

yeah not to manympeople know how to adjust the handbrake.

A rock usually works well.

Thats what i do with mine. One bloke fixed my handbrake a couple of years ago but he has shut up shop now. He was the fellow from mechanix.

I wish I knew where he was. He did good work.
