Personal best trout

They aren't barramundi, but there's something great about the speckled fish ...

Having grown up in Tassie I have a real soft spot for trout. My PB for a Brown is 64cm and a touch under 8lbs caught from Tooms Lake on a Tassie Devil fishing the shallows around tree stumps. Landed on 2kilo line it went off its chops.
PB Rainbow is 7lbs from Lake Taupo in New Zealand also caught on a Tassie devil downrigging on a charter a few years ago.
I have just returned from tassie where among other events i fished the inaugural ABT Trout Calssic held at Arthurs Lake. I teamed up with a mate of mine and unfortunately for us the weather on comp day blew up and we were pretty much pinned to one location. We only boated 1 fish for the day after catching 11 in only a few hours the day prior. We fished plastics and fly. The guys who had bigger boats and were able to move locations did really well and the winning bag consisted of 19 fish. It was a great event and I can't wait to go and fish it again next year.
Cheers

Easter just passed my son Kyle and I fished the New England Streams in Northern NSW for trout. Kyle landed his first ever trout on Easter Sunday from a stream near Guyra. It weighed in at 550 grams. Caught on 4lb mono and a 7 gram Jensen Insect. We kept 3 for the pan and let a lot more swim for another day.

Cheers.

Nice trout, sounds like you all had a great time, congrats to Kyle.

I like those New England streams - I fished Glenn Innes region a bit in years past, and I miss that bankside walking up steep slopes etc
