Marro Fotofish 2026

Post by Marro »

I’m a bit slow getting anything in for Fotofish cause I didn’t read Matt’s instructions! Anyway like many, I’ve already fished Shady several times this year and witnessed some amazing fish action. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many big fish smashing up bait like I have this year. In one small creek in the Wildman we had 80s, 90s and maybe 100s carving up bait right in front of us for nearly an hour. Never seen anything like it. The noise alone was incredible. Unfortunately whilst the sight of all this was quite mind boggling the fishing there didn’t match all the frantic action as we only managed to boat one fish.

So the run off continues and I’m hoping for more good fishing. Corroboree is also now open and I’m expecting some good fishing in there in the coming month or two. The fish in the photo is a 90 I got flicking hard bodies in Sampan.

Nice one Marro!

Yes, don't have to catch a 75cm barra first before posting pix, it can be any time during the year, I assume that was the issue?

Had a similar session on the South once. Total chaos, even the sharks and crocs got involved and we only landed a couple!

Not sure if this is ok but Im sure you’ll let me know if not Matt. These photos sum up last weekends TEBS round for us at SWA. Saturday was pretty slow on the fishing front but what we did encounter is this bin chicken. We were making our way up a tiny creek when this white ibis dropped from a tree above us landed right next to the boat. It was clearly unwell but wasn’t sure if it was the fall or a pre-existing issue. So we netted it and there it sat in the boat for the next 5 hours watching us cast lures, eating pies and motoring between creeks searching for some fish. At the end of the day we put it on a bank with the hope it would fly away. We weren’t confident. The next photo is the Sunday morning about 20 meters from my house. Drove out of driveway heading back to SWA and immediately felt something was seriously wrong. One of the axles had separated from the suspension. Closer inspection revealed no u-bolts, no spring plate and no spacer block. So one would expect all these bits to be sitting in the driveway or on the road, but no, there was no sign of any of it. So the breakage must have occurred on the way home the previous day and for some inexplicable reason it all held together. I’m still scratching my head. So following waiting for the shop to open so I could buy the parts I needed and then making the repairs, we headed back to SWA where we had a ripper afternoon with plenty of good fish in the high 50s up to mid 70s. Well worth the effort repairing the trailer and getting back on the water.
