Been awhile between posts.
Just had a holiday in darwin and did a drive out to to dundee beach for the day...had a good feed at the new lodge which was very nice.
While at dundee had a look at the boat ramp it was low tide at about 1.00 in the arvo...water was a good 20m from the end of the boat ramp...good luck to anyone wanting to launch or load up there boats.
My question is what size tide is generally needed to launch and retrieve at the dundee beach boat ramp.
We are looking at driving over from Kununurra in the September school schools this year...sept 27-oct 12 2025 with a couple of 6m boats to do some blue water fishing for a change and after looking at the tide predictions for this period the first week is neaps ..which im not keen on...and looks like we would be out in the boat most of day and little bit of night before we could retrieve boats or we fish the second week of this time which is building springs and springs which looks like it would be easier to launch and retrieve boats and from what i have been reading springs are better for fishing at dundee.
Not after fishing spots but anyone able to give me a better understanding of the tides etc for launching and retrieving at the boat ramp.
We will be staying at one of the BnB places for roughly 7/8 days so we can have a good look around.
Cheers Mick

Re: Dundee tides- Boat ramp
Dundee is an “all tide ramp” just ask politicians of the day that built it.
But generally you need 2.5 to 2.8 m
Havnt used it for a few months tho.
I suspect things will change by the time you come, once works a complete they will dredge it out and will hopefully be around 1-1.5 m
And in theory will stay like that. But that might turn out like the “all tide ramp”

Big ramp being built, with pontoon I believe. Also, in the dry the built up sand gets cleared a few times too. You'll be able to find out close to your dates exactly what state the ramp is in. Good luck!
