Lots of posts across northern Australia about hooked fish being sharked, sharks seem to be in plague proportions and aggressive, but I've no historic data to compare.
The mantra is that sharks are attracted to fishing boats, but there have always been boats.
Maybe this explains it, sharks are getting hungrier? ... https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2 ... 155808.htm
Does this explain the shark problem?

Might explain at places like Shady Camp where sharks died in gill nets, no nets now so more sharks.
