I've heard of them as far as Sydney but usually small ones 'freed' by pet owners or religious groups
There was a monster near Newcastle around 2005

A big threadfin salmon fishery development in Moreton Bay a decade or two ago, apparently no historic record of them in Moreton Bay earlier in the century. Makes sense if barramundi pick up too. I lived in Brisbane 30 years ago and threadfin and barra were never on the radar. We did catch steelback salmon and putty-nosed perch.

Looks like they pulled the original post, I haven't looked into it further but it may have been a false report. Or perhaps the pro fisho copped flak for killing it. Dunno.

Yes it was caught in a net here,there's been a few over the years most would b aquarium released fish I guess.
