Image AT00015 shows a jeep with a bit of angle iron mounted on the front. That image came from the Ardennes area in Dec 1944. The Battle of the Bulge.
German troops operating behind allied lines used to string thin tight wires across roads between trees. They were set at average neck height off the ground to strike the throat of people sitting in a jeep driving along the road at night in supposedly safe areas.
The angle would intercept and cut the wire as the jeep moved into the booby trap.
