Re: FFF Seadogs - Round 6 - Billabong & Salty Barra
Sister-in-law Christina was in town, and had never caught a barra.....
I checked the tides for the only day we had spare in the schedule, and the low was 2.3m, about a half a metre higher than I'd have liked for harbour barra fishing, but it'd have to do.
Dropped the boat in and sped across the gloriously flat harbour, but as expected, there was a distinct lack of dirty water and the bait weren't skittish and scared the way you'd like them to be.
We managed a couple little trevally to kick start the day, and as the tide dropped away we managed to ping two barra on lures cast to the rockbars, both just under sized, but lovely silver harbour barra nonetheless.
Christina was rapt to land her first barra, a 53cm model, which gave up a good fight. Biggest fish she's ever caught, and one she'll never forget.
Mine was slightly smaller at 51cm.
It was good to dust off the barra gear for the season and I'm looking forward to the humidity rising and the barra getting more active.
cheers

Got out to SWA yesterday and got this 89 trolling a blue bling classic, well not much blue left on it but it still did the job.

The water temp keeps changing a significant amount each day. I even got a few cold water specimens. Best landed went 73 for the month. still had a good month.
check out the temp on the sounder. Yes it is correct as I have 2 and they had the same reading.

how many is enough lures, rods and reels. Is there a magic number, considering you usually only catch 1 fish on a single lure on the one rod and reel your casting with.
