Timber creek

Post by Josh wearing »

Lads,

rather new to the site and have read everything I can.

I am planning a trip to timber and am chasing as much knowledge from the people in the know as possible.

I have done plenty of barra fishing in the Kimberley (broome/derby) but the NT is all new to me.

any advice you can give on the Vic river would be fantastic.

josh.

Been a while since i have been there.

are you doing day trips or camping down stream what size boat you got, when are you going ?
Fishfinder book has a bit of info and is a good start.
it can be very fickle place some times.

Cheers

It depends when you go. You want to fish neap tides to get some clear water.

It's a place most people fish during the run-off.

A thought for you, Josh, the Keep River, north of Kununurra, from freshwater to brackish, to tidal and fairly remote, being just in the Territory...
And plenty of crocs. I have fished it fairly frequently, from 1967 to last year.
Cheers, bobj.

Lads,

I apologies for not getting back until now.

we will be in an outlaw 469. We have plenty of fuel and room for extra. We should be up there around 1st of April.

I'm really curious as to what depth ill be looking at. It is all a little new to me as we are used to fishing smaller pool systems up Broome way.

The info ive read off here has put me in a good spot but I am wondering what are the lures you would suggest I don't forget to pack? depth's ect.

What would you say neap tides are up there?

we will be getting around 2-2.5m of movement which we would class as a neap in Broome.

We are contemplating bringing the swags for an overnighter down the river but haven't really got too far into that.

Live baiting seems to be effective but I would prefer to focus more on the artificial side of things.

Once again, thanks guys.
