Well fellas thanks for the advice- couldn’t really convert. Got a couple threadys and that was it. There was a heap of small threadys being landed, heaps of activity on the sounder but we spent the day at the month and would have seen 5 Barra max taken on the troll. There was about 10 boats lined up licking the mouth on the left as you come out they were doing ok every time we come past they were pulling in a half decent sized Barra half of them were just vertically jigging vibes and doing ok.
Cheers to the fellas that showed me the channel near the ramp, managed to run around on the right lucky she floated off, once we had the channel no worries in a 6.1m boat.

Re: Shady barra
I went Saturday, got a couple of barra in the 80's, 20 odd threadies up to 95 and a few good goldies from the reef out front. No jews though which is what we were after. We used smaller lures and found active fish on the sounder and stuck with them. Just trolled 200m at a time, turned around and trolled back over the same fish again. When we stopped getting hits we'd troll further towards the mouth till we found them again. All our fish came in less than 1.5 m of water. Also caught a swag of rats around the barrages.

Re: Shady barra
There's heaps out there from about 5km out, the better ones are at about 8km but they were dead this time and we did better in close. So close that at low tide the fresh water from the mouth moved over the reef. The goldies we caught were in 2.5m of water, no need to look for deep water out there.
