Sandy Creek area

Post by ghound »

Hi Guys

Heading to Sandy creek late next week for a few days R and R.
I have never fished the area but talking to those that have seems like pelagics are the name of the game! They don't float my boat too much and depending on weather I am thinking of heading out to the East side of North Goulburn to try my luck on the reefies. Does anyone know if this is worthwhile? Or am I better of just sticking in closer. Seems like a long way to go out when fishing remote but from all accounts is does receive a fair amount of pressure.

thanks in advance

Ghound

The channel between the goulbourns has some good reef fishing. The western edge is better. Black rock on the southern edge of goulbourns has jew occasionally. I head a bit further around to the king river. Fishing in there for goldies and jacks and some barra. Had three goldies on the one barra classic before. Simms island has a really deep hole on the eastern side. Get some nannagai and other bits and pieces in it. There is also a reef to the north of it that fishes ok for macs and trout. Sandy creek itself is flogged in my oppinion.

Hey Cuddles

Thanks mate had a feeling you would have the low down. Reckon I might head over to king river one of the days depending on weather. And I will have a look around the Eastern side of Goulburn by the sounds.

Sounds like I better stay clear of black rock way to far to catch Cockroaches :D

Thanks for the info!

Hey Mate

Yeah we had a good trip. Was pretty blowy when we were there. Plenty of trout etc around simms Island.
We went around South Goulburn and got a few goldies and nannies nothing brilliant though.
Been to better places fishing wise but not many better locations really top bit of Coastline.

Mate just spent a week there...

10-15 different camp sites and every struggled to catch fish. Maybe due to the rain.

He got 1 Barra, 4-5 jacks and a few nice goldies for the week.
