Does anyone have experience with using an iPad to link to a HDS gen 2or 3? I'm considering going down that path but concerned about over heating the iPad in the high temperatures.
Have you found it practical and reliable?
No point having unreliable gear on a boat.

Re: Ipad Lowrance Link
I found it pretty much useless during the day. I did it for a while and gave up on it. The iPad screen is not bright enough in full sun and very hard to see, and then it overheats once the day warms up.
Works well at night time though.
Better off spending the money on a second compatible sounder unit in my opinion.

I have a Samsung tablet in waterproof case with a ram mount. Bit hard to see, but I'm making a little shield to go around it which should make it better. Hasn't overheated in this heat. I do need to install a 12v plug up the front now as it goes flat quick.
