First trip to Dundee

Post by Till »

Decided to finally have a crack at Dundee on Sunday. We left the ramp about 730am and thought it wasn't too rough but it was friggin cold. About half way out the wind and swell really started to pick up cussing a bit of water to hit us and freeze us more. It was way too rough to anchor so we were drifting looking for a bit of ground with a few small cod and stripeys to come over the side. The wind started to drop so I deployed the motor guide and it helped straight away with a good 55cm trout straight away. Mate got a nice red emporer and another trout and it went a bit quiet so we went looking for a new spot before the turn. Found a little rise and hit anchor on the MG and instantly hooked up to a nice goldie and then the other boys were on with a few more goldies coming over. Nothing big but good enough. A couple of largemouth came over the side and one was caught on squid but had mine and another mates gulp in its mouth aswell. Another couple of trout came in and one which went 58 and I dropped a decent fish near the boat and the school got spooked and shut down the bite. It started glassing out so we high tailed it back in flat seas. Good trip and will be goin back. ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Well done on your first outing out that way! Fantastic mix of quality fish!
It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming.

Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.

“Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime”

"Soon after I embraced the sport of angling I became convinced that I should never be able to enjoy it if I had to rely on the cooperation of the fish."
