Had planned on fishing the Daly over the weekend but the rain forecast was cr.p. Pulled up the BOM radar and Jabiru looked reasonably dry so we headed to the South. Arrived on the high tide around midnight and fished for a few hours for zip at the mouth of Nourlangie. Around sunrise at dead low tide there was a decent colour change and the bazzas started boofing the bait on the tide change. It looked good and sounded great but we couldn't get a hit.
Once the tide came in a bit we headed up Nourlangie to the junction. The water here was fairly clear but the floodplain was bl..dy dry and there was zero bait to be seen. We then went up past Leicharts ck looking for a colour change on the run out tide and struggled to find anything that wasn't flowing coffee coloured cr.p.
By now the storms were brewing again so we high tailed back to the ramp.
No fish, no hits but at least we stayed dry. I've fished the south at this time of the yr for the last four wet seasons and i've never seen it this dry. Unless there is a good dump up that way i'd be crossing it off my runoff hit list.
Cheers!
