Need to catch a Barra

Post by NT Mick »

Looking at heading out next Wednesday for the day!
Tides seem to be in reverse of what if like but going anyway!!
For you regulars - my choices are Leeders, Adel mouth or shady??
Any help or suggestions matching these tides would be appreciated??
:)

Adelaide mouth, go try to get a big powertail for sea dogs comp. I'm hoping to do this, but knowing my luck I won't get any of the fish I'm targeting at all, and only catch by catch off Jewies .... I'm hoping

well when you say "need to catch a barra" sounds like you are more interested in volume than the quality and size of the fish, in which case i would think shady personally.

adelaide would be my pick to try to get a nice sized chromie but i consider it more of a gamble

also i am not a very successful fisherman haha so if other advice contradicts mine i would listen to them

Volume not a requirement...
A couple of nice silver fellas would settle the bug!!

You could try trolling/livebaiting the rock bars on the finniss. Gives you the option of hitting the close reefs if the barra dont play the game. I'll let you know how shady is going after the weekend.

Willy weather has never let me down, also with WW you can get tides at shady camp barrage which then you can easily workout the tides for the mouth i think!

According to my stubbie holder, the neaps at shady camp are inconsistent and they vary

I should share this... one of the sales agents at work gave it to me yesterday i think it is awesome.

The other side has adelaide mouth & bridge, 5 points of the alligator, daly, and point jenny & dundee wide.

Pretty awesome

If the neap high tide doesnt get above 4.5m it wont get water that high up the river any more due to the silting of the lower section of river below the barrage. Some days just don't get water and others it aint there for long.
