how big is your biggest brassy?

Post by yakfish »

I caught this thumper the other day. 1 metre long to the tip. I'm stoked to say the least. It got me thinking though... Every reference I see to brassys is that they do not grow this big. Some say 80cm, some say 90cm. Some say 6.4kg some say 12kg. I've caught 2 over 90cm so far, and I'm sure there's bigger ones out there. Jeffish, I remember you telling me about your stonker.

So anyway, screw all these fish encyclopedias that don't know what they're talking about, I'm asking you guys:

How big do brassys grow? And what would a metre long brassy weigh? (I didn't have any scales)

On some reefs the average one is 10kg. I have a few bumps around the place that have hundreds of them to 1m long. Never bothered measuring one.

I've caught a few in the mid 90's with the best going 10.5 kg @ 96cm .But I think the one your thinking about is the GT
I caught out at Lorna last year it was 107cm and 23kg (aprox) . Hope you get onto one of these in the yak soon :D
