Fish big still as the little bait isn't hatched yet. Wont get many but still a chance of a meter plus fish. Go down till the banks are all exposed. Probably from Elizabeth down. 30km or so.
Spot on  too early yet, but there will be a few big girls around. First flush clears out a lot of sticks so be careful.

Don't go past Moon Billabong. Closed season at the moment. You might cop a day in court and a hefty fine. The cops will know that people will be heading there this weekend.
Yep your right, wasn't even looking at the calendar......... :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

or if it will be running to fast or high and any other factors cheers. never been there would love to take the boat out Aus weekend there just don't want it to be a waste of time.

A few essentials for fishing the run off.

1. Timing, make sure you time your trips with falling river levels, rising rivers do not fish well, tides do have an effect on rivers even when they are in flood, and spring tides seem to be the most productive.

2. Locations, there are no secret spots, every possible fishable spot is well known and indeed published and available in GPS coordinates for sale through this site.

3. Effort, the simple maths is as follows, more time and effort equals more fish, you can have “golden” sessions where you leave the fish bitting, more often than not though the bite is a short period during a long session of fishing, the most successful anglers have a lure in the water for the longest time.

4. Equipment, the array of tackle and accessories is only limited by your budget, most of it won’t get used in earnest, after all how many rods can you cast at a time with a single lure attached to the line, most lure changes happen after the loss of one or when the fishing is lousy, majority of Barra are caught on a handful of lure types and colours.

5. Clothing, make sure you wear a shirt that would not be out of place at the Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, lots of colour and logos with advertising for products, best described by someone as “dressed like a pox doctor’s clerk” if you can’t manage that a “high vis” shirt from work will do.

6. Etiquette, when you want to fish somewhere just tie up to the river bank in or around the creek mouth, you will notice that these spots are generally the only spots vacant, earlier arrivals have anchored around the creek colour change and made it difficult to get a shot at the creek.

7. Prospecting, when looking for a likely spot to fish you will notice other boats anchored at creeks and drains, just pass as close as you can to see if anyone is hooked up or there is visible signs like boofing Barra or jumping bait, you can do this on the plane, after all there is less wake from your boat that way.

The above is my observation and experience over 30 run offs, most of the things above have occurred in the last 10, make what you want of that.
