Yeah go to a plumbing supplier and see if you can get a cheap length of 50mm drain pipe (often have cracked ends in transport)
bung up the ends and tape securely.
Aus post will get it done, not as quick as courier but it usually gets there

Just got 2 rods from Anglers Warehouse at Tweed Heads, purchased Thursday, arrived today, one 5ft9", one 6ft1", both one piece, delivered to country Victoria by Star Trak, cost $16, and was packaged by the shop perfectly.Hope this helps, cheers mate.(That isn't factoring in the "NT" factor into the freight!!!!!).

You need to find someone with an account with the couriers. That is the only way to get cheap rates.

Otherwise try Busfreight. But you do not get insurance.

Australia post has a length limit that you'll need to take into account

$16 is a great deal!!
When asked by a non-fisherman "how many fishing rods do you actually need?", the correct response is either:
A) n+1 (where n is the number if rods you currently have); or

B) n-1 (where n is the number of rods which would cause your other half to dump you)

Cheers for all the posts ( no pun intended ) I will look at going thru one of my mates supplier accounts with insurance when the rod is completed.
