East arm ramp..

Post by Escape »

Launching the other day... the east arm ramp pontoons where quite uneven and a dip in the middle....
Looking a bit worse for wear for its age...

When we returned there was a BM crew transfer boat there, stern into the pontoon, no ropes just holding themselves on in gear....

I guess this happens X amount of times a day.....?
Is that whats buggering the jetty?
Id assume its not designed to have a 30+ foot boat sitting there thrusting against it?

Cant imagine itll last much longer with that treatment?

Just the name of the contractor....
Bhagwan marine i think

I guess the pontoons been there for a while now, but the dip was where the boat was...
Looked dodgy as, once its rooted wonder if recreational fisherman will cop the blame?

I was always under the mores sign that the pontoon boat ramps were built to accommodate recreational vessels only and not for commercial use. I with you Escape I don't think the pontoons were designed for the larger commercial boats to thrust up against. Any engineers on line like Ozdodge that may be able to clarify? ;-)

Have seen that boat and bigger hit the pontoon at warp speed and nearly knock waiting workers off on more than one occasion.

It will be stuffed in no time

Its just a shame to see...
Its taken so long to finally get these good facilities at local ramps and its getting destroyed.

Its built in the wrong spot. Ive seen it break up twice since it was built.
My mail is that the whole thing will be relocated elsewhere to make way for the wharf expansion. I dont know anything else just what ive heard on the grapevine.

I appreciate that you think I might be worth asking. :D

No idea is my answer, but it doesn't sound good to me.

While we're in the area.....I'm interested to know if there'll be lock gates in the new Lake Elizabeth! :naughty: :bonk:

Retreived the boat yesterday at EA...

Managed to pull it out @ 1.5 mtrs.

There is a huge rock or more likely a concrete block (it feels very square) at the end of the right side ramp....?
Didnt hit it with the boat but found it with the trailer.

Obvisously not many boats being launched/retrieved on that lower tide but be careful...! Other users must go close
To hitting it with OBs etc....?
