Hit so hard it broke my rod holder (was getting a beer out).

Released to grow some more.

Fishing can be such an emotional activity. April has been pretty light on for fishing trips with only one trip to Corroboree earlier in the month for half a dozen togas and a few hours today in the harbour to try an get something for the comp and meet my aim to enter a Barra every month. It was a pretty ordinary morning landing only one small Barra. I thought at least I have something and I reluctantly photographed the minuscule fish. Then immediately after releasing.......disaster, I realised I forgot to put the bl..dy paper in the photo. Shite I thought, that was likely going to be the only fish I'd see today and having seen the reaction of some of the FFF fishos this year I wouldn't dare trying to enter a fish without the paper. So for the next couple of hours I felt miserable and not seeing another fish I decided to head home. On the way home I decided to stop at a small snag and fire a lure into it. One cast and bugger me I cracked another fish (50). What a relief. It might be small but boy did it change my day. Hopefully I'll get more time on the water in May.

FFF Seadogs 2018 - Round 3 - Barramundi and Salmon - results attached

I have put asterisks next to fish that had compliance issues, one for example had the newspaper in a separate shot and someone has successfully appealed that.

Someone appealed Brad's fish on the NT measuring sticker, I am going to let that fish through as it is obviously a whole sticker and the stickers should be trustworthy.

(I expect now a series of posts on how the NT stickers aren't accurate :D :D :D )

In future, only branded brag mats can be used. When shooting pix with your brag mat fill the photo frame with the fish, don't shoot from a distance.

Keep in mind this comp has very few requirements - you just need a newspaper for each month, a brag mat at hand, and your annual registration with FFF sticker.

A barramundi is also needed ... and a location shot.

Round 3 was another good round, though not as good as Round 2. Going back over the first three rounds, looking at the pix, there were some cracker fish caught.

Congrats to all, ya lucky buggers.

Let me know if I have missed any fish or made an error.

“I have put asterisks next to fish that had compliance issues, one for example had the newspaper in a separate shot and someone has successfully appealed that.”

So somebody appealed the pic of my Mrs holding up the paper after forgetting to put it on the brag mat? Seriously? You can see she is wearing the same dress as the fish pic. It was a small oversight. It’s not as if I’m in the running to win the comp.

What happened to the spirit of the game? Thought this was a friendly forum comp?

If that’s the sort of people in the comp now, I’m out! :fubird:

It might be time to follow all the others that have drifted away from the forum over the last few years. See ya!

I'm with ya, bit rich that decision.. Especially given some of the examples from previous entries.

Brag mat and current paper in same photo is not that hard fellas, any comp needs to have rules and this one is easy.

Genuinely sorry to hear of anyone being disappointed, but please don't blame others for getting it wrong.

The rules are very simple. If it were any simpler it wouldn't be a competition.

Social comp doesn't mean it has to be a sloppy comp.

I do agree that it shouldn't be hard to remember to include the paper in the brag mat photo. But I can understand that it can be hard to accept that reasoning with examples from previous comps:
Lats wrote:I'm hoping this will be allowed in lieu of a paper. Asked the decky to get it with the ice but I didn't check. Says purchased 5th May. Great trip to Shady on the weekend. This was the biggest at 102cm. Also got 2 x 92cm and 2 x 91cm. New PB too. All caught on Reidys

Don't recall if anyone appealed that one Jer.

But there won't be any more leeway re inclusion of the month's newspaper.

Only allowance I am currently making with measuring is that NT Govt size stickers can be used as long as it can be seen that the sticker hasn't been chopped in the middle.

Other measuring devices, asides from branded brag mats, are not a goer.

Not having a go at you Matt. Rules are rules. But they have been stretched more than once in this comp. I could have put the fish back on the mat, but it would have been void anyway as it’s throat was slit. :naughty:

Anyway, anyone who knows me, knows I wouldn’t try to cheat in a comp on a forum that I have been a member of for more than ten years. One might call it an honest mistake.

So to the bloke who appealed it. :fubird:

Bye bye. That’s all she wrote.

No one thinks you are cheating Scott. Tiz a technicality.

Taking a relaxed approach earlier was obviously my bad.

Sorry about the tape Flicken.

Meanwhile, to everyone else, fish on!

One last comment....

This forum used to be about sharing knowledge and helping each other out. Hell, you guys used to be tight enough to set up and sink artificial reefs together! No easy feat.

For someone to be petty enough to have a winge and actually protest my entry, that tells me it ain’t what it used to be around here! Which I knew already. Call it the straw that broke the camels back.

All the best to the good c$&ts on here! There’s still a few around.
