It's hilarious watching some pretty flash bigger boats turn around right near the start of the better spots .
We take all the good tools for it nowadays including custom made "water intake grill mary river sand chunks poker outerer wire" and a spare prop with nut and splittly . .. (older and wiser now.)
Anyone who's pushed their luck down that way a few times eventually will have a fun moment down there. We used to just hop out and haul our 12 ft tinny back up into the top pool even if it was ankle deep. I actually did hit the sand a few times coming back in Shallow drive but not a big deal in a 425. Was definitely not going to plane through on the way home after drifting down fully trimmed out and seeing what the new depths were as its too dirty to see the bottom easily yet. It is shallow as for miles now and the stump i mentioned is now exposed but there's a couple of nice snaggy 3m holes in it now too. Some feeder cks have water still and in the late arvo and into the night there were heaps of rats at most of them too for the kids or tourists .. . others are dry already but plenty of good snags and a few rockbar sections to mix it up a bit or you can troll around a bit too...i find it's always a good out trip regardless of "trophy baz" ... but theres some horses in there trust me.
If in a boat bigger than 5m you're looking for trouble crossing back up ATM I'd reckon . But plenty of other spots up from there to get Barra at. GOOD LUCK WITH IT.
