Re: FFF Seadogs 2016 - Round 7 - Billabong, Dam & Salty Barr
Fished the harbour this afternoon and was rewarded with plenty of small Barra. Bait was everywhere and the boofing was constant. Only problem was they were so bl..dy small. I decided I better take a photo of one in case I didnt get anything legal. So I took a couple of photos of a fish (43) before letting it go. I then realised I forgot to place the NT News next to it......stupid! So I did what every disperate fisherman would do, I took a photo of the mat and paper but without the fish! Ill leave it to you Matt to decide if I get the points. Hopefully I'll crack an upgrade before the months end.

Great fish guys.....praying I get the boat back this week so I can get a few days to try land a Barra.
It's been nearly 5 weeks away.....they must be manufacturing the parts I reckon.

Ok so I've left Tinaroo behind after it gave me a serious ass kicking! Got some unfinished business there.
Where can I catch a L.Calcarifer in Cooktown?? Landbased. In winter. I don't ask much.

Off the main wharf, Endeavour River, using live sards for bait.
If you can get permission to fish off a private pontoon up the river with a night light on it you might score.
Also the Annan River bridge.

At the main wharf, the locals do better with live yellow tail pike.....NBN wrote:

I felt all giddy when Daz hit me up for midnight run this week.....its been 5 weeks off the water.
One of around 12 landed between us both for the night. 74 on the mat. The bigger fish down deeper just wouldn't bite. Pulled plenty of hooks trying to rip lips but that's fishing.

Re: FFF Seadogs 2016 - Round 7 - Billabong, Dam & Salty Barr
My result from our night trolling session on Hardies, nice solid 72cm fish.
Was an interesting trip with Richie's "special lures" being the stand out. I reckon I tried every lure in my tacklebox in frustration but ended up sheepishly borrowing one of his in a desperate attempt to put a fish on the brag mat....and it came through. A desperate man resorts to desperate measures
It was also quite interesting there were two definite windows between 30 minutes and an hour where the fish came on the bite. We quite often could see the fish on the Structurescan but they wouldn't hit the lures. Just after moonrise they fired up a bit and probably resulted in the most hook ups.

After a couple of donut trips to the bongs headed out to salt water arm and managed to land this solid chrome nugget 94cm on the old faithful barra classic, got dusted on the last troll of the day by something a lot bigger, thinking big jew by the hit and the run, thanks to nomad gunn point road is graded all the way to SWA and Leaders creek. Nice fish boys,i couldnt catch a cold in coroborree ATM!

After copping an absolute towelling yesterday I picked up Daz and came out swinging again this afternoon.
Daz put us in front at the end of round 1, and I followed up with a great one two combination in the next. Managed a few slabs between us and gained some much needed redemption from the previous day.
95 on the mat.....
Venue: Saltwater Arm
