My wife/deckie nabbed this 81cm model on the troll at Tommycut yesterday, the only excitement in a very slow day at Shady... Her first legal barra, not a bad way to get on the board for the year!

Cheers, Mick

Fish coming in fast, looks like the five bonus points for early fish has worked.

Congrats to those who have entered early fish, and special congrats to Sullo, who is doing a fine job representing the Sunshine State.

Well done nice fish must have been your secret weapon Mick? That did the job. Very quiet out there even though I was seeing them lined up on the sounder.

I had 2 days up my sleeve to get out for a fish this month. Hit the Adelaide with a handful of vibes, squidgie slick rigs (my number one lure) and a selection of classics which always seem to get the job done out there.
The sounder showed fish straight away and hopping 20g vibes down the ledges and drop offs accounted for the bigger fish on the run out tide. However, by far the most productive method was a slow retrieve in the top water column. The fish seemed to strike on the drop and staying in contact with my vibe on the drop ensured I stayed connected. I lost a horse when my knot gave way mid way through the fight which would have been a nice upgrade, much to the amusement of another boat trolling up the river. Them's the breaks I guess (rookie error).
As the tide slowed and so did the bite I switched to the subtle approach and started slow rolling slick rigs. Evil minnow (fav colour) did the damage and eventually I got jammed by this 78cm model on the light spin casting another thready buster.
Looking forward to upgrading with some bigger fish next month I hope. Will be back full time in the NT with the Mrs and young fella then. Until then, good luck with the rest of the month lads. Next report March.

Overnighter to Shady cancelled due to motor issues. But managed this 88cm upgrade before the issues started. Disappointed I didn't get to stay.

Taking a selfie with a DSLR is not as easy as it seems.

Shoal Bay 80cm, caught on the 06/02/2016, but we didn't have the paper with us so I don't expect it to be counted :)

A slight upgrade 81cm from the Daly on the weekend, was a good trip with around 20 fish boated.
2 biggest where 79 & 81 was hard fishing though and lost dozens of lures.
Cheers Big Col
