How do you score billfish in this comp? Could April or May be a billfish round. Better go and get a few stickers for the rigs.

I took billies out because there weren't enough people chasing them, if there is interest we could do a billie round again.

Matt, I really think the 10 extra points for posting early is a bit silly - it will mean the whole comp will
Be won or lost not by how good a fisherman you were, but what time in the month you had time off work!

Over the year that is a 60cm difference. Only based on when you could fish.

Many rounds are won or lost by only a few cm and in the 2014 seadog the whole years comp came down to 3 cm.

With no second price in the main comp it also discourages People having a go if there is one clear leader.

The idea of encouraging people to post early is good but at the end of the day the round is a month long and the best fish in that month should win the round regardless of when it was caught. It may not mean there are a lot of posts mid months - but now with the random drawn prize - people will be more likly just post their fish anytime.

It Would be sad to see the major factor in who wins being when they could fish. Many of us work limited rosters and have other commitments like family? which means we might only get out for 1 fish a month and the opportunity to go out is limited.

It would be more fair to remove that bonus - an allow each person the full month to try and catch their fish.

Also - I didn't see a negative point for Barra in the reef fish round?

Thanks
Jon

I tend to agree with the early entry bonus for the first 10 days. Its not until August that I get home from a swing before the 10th of a month.

But if dem da rules, then I will still play. Just got to find my boat photo now to put up

Thanks for the comments - I have made it five points for the early-in-the month fish instead of 10

I think the early incentive adds an interesting new angle to the comp as sets an early lead that will have to be beaten later in the month.

Re comments about a billfish round, I can change the rounds to include a billie round if enough interest is expressed. But there are only a few billfish chasers, so other species seem more worthwhile.

I have added a trophy for the champion as to win this comp via the best of six rounds is a real achievement and worthy of a decent trophy.

The final changes made are minor. To summarise ...

There are now two tiers, a championship level for the top fishos, and a second tier that is a draw from among those who enter a fish in at least three rounds during the year.

I have also added a five-point bonus for fish entered in the first 10 days of each month.

Otherwise, everything is pretty much the same.

Still time for comment up until the Feb 1 start.

perhaps not a billfish round per se but maybe a way of scoring them? would you consider classing a sailfish as a 90cm "fish" and a marlin as a 120cm "fish" as unless you have a IGFA/Billfish foundation measuring ruler you then encourage the guys to take the photo in the water and not harm the release trying to measure it with whatever is on board. I'm beginning to see there isn't many billfishers but it's what I am good at and what I plan to chase this year when I'm not working out how to catch barra.

Another idea I have instead of the paper as your proof of month perhaps a code word each month, We all print it out or write it down on a piece of paper, however you wish to save those who forgot to get the local rag for the month, they could then even use their phones/ipads possibly?
