There was tuna busting up in Darwin Harbour yesterday on the turn of the high tide. About 100 meters off the Meigs wreck. I let about 50 casts into them but no hook up. Bait they were chasing was tiny so I reckon maybe 15 gram slices would of done the job better. They weren't flighty though, we chased them for about half an hour until they vanished. Upon saying that...... I can't catch Tuna to save my life so perhaps take it with a grain of salt

It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming.

Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.

“Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime”

Small slices and wind quicker JQ. You cant physically wind too fast for them. I do a circle action with both handle and rod in opposite directions to be able to wind quicker. This seems to work.

Its a bit like rub your tummy and pat your head at first but you get used to it.

So is it fork length for queenies? This one was on a green little lucifer. He was doing crazy circles around the lure and foul hooked himself! 60cm fork, so would count as less than my rat barra from earlier. Cheers

Dont worry, my wife has the same problem and I believe its what CC said, she cant wind fast enough. Next time I'm out, I'm going to get her to cast and dig her knees into the side. Once she starts to wind, I am going to kick it into reverse. Or get her to cast from the stern and start going forward away from the school

Yes a good way to do it is fly in, fire a cast off to the beam of the boat while still moving and leave the boat just in gear and turn away from the direction of the lure and the school of fish. This adds the extra speed needed. Used to have to do it with a lot of punters. Its like trolling combined with cast and retrieve.

Next week Matt, next week I'm sure...lol :-)
If there is water and it holds fish, then it is fun trying to fool them into eating what you offer!!

Especially when you can see them!
