I also got this fish but I know it won't count. I was on my own and it was dark so I didn't get a good location pic and the brag mat shots are either blurry or the fish is in the wrong spot. It took 25 minutes to land, measured 97cm and was also caught land based :(

REALLY NO BILLFISH YET!!

The barra bit should be taken off to generate more interest in billfishing, this is just ridiculous.
Seems a bit silly having like 5 barra rounds and then tack another one onto an open water fish like marlin and sailfish.

Nice fish Josh- if you want your night time shots to be focused shine your head torch on the subject so your camera has something to focus on. That fish could have won with a clear pic. Oh well - better luck next time

yeah i should have entered for it just had the billfish comp over here and there has been more marlin than sails caught so far would of taken out this comp with a decent one.
seano wrote:KP and Jetfish- this is one of the best times if the year for big barra. Not everyone can target billfish - especially the land based guys. Gives everyone a shot. No one has entered a billfish yet anyway!!
don't know if youve looked seano but through out the year there is lots of landbased options in this comp

just look at all the landbased options there you can land based nearly all of the rounds its not like missing the billfish round will cause you to loose if your that keen

Round 1, Feb - The Wet, barra
Round 2, Mar - The Run-off, barra
Round 3, Apr - The Greenwater, barra
Round 4, May - Jewfish Busters
Round 5, June - Mackerel Maulers
Round 6, July - Tuna and Queenfish
Round 7, Aug - Billabong Barra
Round 8, Sep - Saltwater Barra
Round 9, Oct - Billfish
Round 10, Nov - Reefie Madness (eligible fish = goldies, red emperor, coral trout, trickies, cod and groper under 1.2m, jobfish, red bass, chinaman, maori sea perch)
Round 11, Dec - Powertails (c.a.t.fish)

given the option most people will say oh billfishings too hard ill go sit in a dirty river and catch barramundi !!
