And another change - competitors will have to use brag mats on the billies as best they can to show the length of the fish. The brag mat can be held alongside the fish.

I have just fine-tuned the rules for the March 1 kick-off of the Seadogs 2012 comp - there are no major changes, but I have made clearer how fish must be measured, and that rounds are a month long, not two weeks.

Competitors are reminded to register for Round One onward for a chance to win Grand Champ, although it is possible to register at Round 3 and still have a chance.

Refer to the first post on this thread for all the comp details.

To register go here ... http://fishingterritory.com/seadogs-201 ... 28103.html

How do you define the areas fished?

E.g. run-off you think daly or shady and tidal you think shoal bay or the harbour, but shady and the daly are tidal and not far into shoal bay there is run-off..

Does green water refer to the mouths of rivers and bays? I.e tidal areas?

The other two seem pretty obvious..

Sorry if these are stupid questions, just not hip this particular lingo and I'm in an area where some creeks don't even have names let alone defining fishing talk about them so I just want to fish the right areas :bonk:

Awesome idea, thanks for this Matt!!!

G'day passenger279 - the Round names are largely symbolic, people can fish wherever they want as long as it is NT waters, and legal line fishing methods.

I was thinking competitors might have to file a location photo to show they were fishing the run-off or whatever, but that adds a whole new can of worms

Better to keep it simple!

One person has kindly mentioned that jewies and macks may go over the 120cm of an average brag mat, the bigger fish will have to be laid out on the mat and shot with the whole fish visible, and I will use Photoshop to work out the size.

However anyone who can get a bigger brag mat should do so.

And also - in the event of a draw, either the fattest fish wins, or the entry that best complies with the rules, the judge's decision is final.

To clarify - if a deckie catches a fish in Seadogs, it must be entered by the owner of the registered boat.

However deckies fishing in boats registered in the Seadogs comp can register in the event by posting a picture of a vehicle, tackle box or eskie with a FFF sticker. They can then post their own entries.

If a deckie is not registered, the owner of the registered boat will have to enter the fish. I will be posting the prize to the registered entrant, if the deckie caught it you'll have to sort out that out yourself

Yes, there are jewfish, tuna, mackerel and billfish rounds. The billfish round is half points to even it out - best fish of six of the eight rounds makes the final tally.

Might chuck in extra rounds for mud crabs etc that are not part of the final tally.

we did a saturday sunday trip to the south, so will be posting an entry from saturday when i get the camera cable at home.

myself and my old man were fishing in a defence run comp on the saturday at the south and the old man landed a nice 84cm bazza, so ill be submitting his entry for him, as well as my considerable smaller barra.

i have registered myself under the old mans boat, as i use it more than he does these days, can he still submit his fish even though he isnt registered, using you 'deckie' terms listed in the above responses.
fishing and beers,

wonder what the poor people are up to!!!
