FFF Seadogs 2012 - Round 3 - Jewfish Busters

Post by Matt Flynn »

The FFF Seadogs 2012 Jewfish Round kicks off May 1, post your entries on this thread.

Please try to obtain a large brag mat, or join two together. Oversize fish on standard mats will be guesstimated by the judge. In the event of a near-draw the best-measured fish will win, judge's decision final.

Please note that if you have not yet entered a fish, you must enter fish in the next six rounds for a shot at the Grand Champion Prize.

I am also kicking off bonus dry season barra and mud crab rounds, points will not be in the final tally for bonus rounds see separate thread.

Still time to enter, check out the registration thread if you need to know more.

Not sure, but a dressmaker's tape measure might work

For this round a dressmaker's measure is permissible, make sure you get one with large numbers ....

They are plastic and cheap, should last a while.

I'll get some Territory-size Seadogs measures made up, this toy stuff is annoying me

But I can't do it until August, the bloke can't supply them until then.

just got a 140cm one from Tackleworld 2 weeks ago, they had 2 sizes avail, went for the bigger one

Be good to get one longer than that!!!
If there is water and it holds fish, then it is fun trying to fool them into eating what you offer!!

Especially when you can see them!

Day 1 Jewie Busters - sinkers will rain on the Darwin wrecks for the next month

Try to get a shot of the jewie and fisho when the fish is caught, it's not needed for the comp but it makes the entries more interesting.

Well I had a crack on day 1.

Result; 1.7 million total centimeters of shark. An absolutely monster cod and something the mate I had with me called a 'nightfish' =- looked quite a bit like a barra but with patchy silver/beige colouring.

But the night time beach boat retrieve went well so I'm happy. Maybe next time.

Tried today to get on the board early without any luck!

God dammit I saw 15 jews landed and we were stone throw away and didnt get a hit. The biggest was pushing 140cm....

They are still around so good luck to everyone. I need another trip this month to stay in the race, fraustrating not having a boat at the moment! (59 days to go!!!)

I can guesstimate them using Photoshop off a 120cm brag mat, but if there is a tie the best-measured fish wins, suggest a 140cm mat or dress tape, give the tape a stretch too so it doesn't bunch up
